Thanks, and you're right!... For the longest time I didn't know where my tail stock came from, but I reversed image searched it and found the source. I've given proper credit now.

I have a solution for your story problem,

My theory is this...

The girl in the above picture had the desire to get a mermaid tail for the majority of her life time. Upon her 20th birthday a package came in the mail from a stranger. A note atop the box said only these words, "From your fairy-godmother". Curiously she opens the package and finds within the cardboard and bubble wrap a costume mermaid tail. She indeed becomes overjoyed, but also curious as to the costume itself. The exterior of the costume felt so realistic, so much like the texture of a fish's scales more so than even a silicone mermaid tail should.

She knows that she has to pack up for her drive to college and decides that it is most logical to take her new "costume" with her to college as to show off to her roommate. She proceeds to pack away her "costume" with the rest of her college gear and drives her way back to her college campus for her spring semester.

Given that her campus is far away, she decides to stop at a Green Tree Inn for the night. She proceeds into the front office, greeted by a most generous Inn clerk. The clerk being an elderly lady with an aged completion yet also young eyes to match her oddly youthful energy. The clerk leaves after the unpacking of the college girls' bags are concluded.

The college girl noticed on the way up the stairs that the Inn contacted an indoor pool and spy; she of course spotted an opportunity. She could try on her "costume" by the pool-side and see if it is indeed worthy for her completion. She carries the "costume" to the pool-side towards the end of the evening and tries it on.

Sliding on into her "costume" she felt it odd that it not only fit perfectly, but that when she inserted her legs into its scaly complex, that her nerves felt not two separate legs, but one single unit. In disbelief, she found also that her bone structure functioned differently in her "costume" then it had perviously; it was no longer in her power to stand up.

Thinking that she was in a dream fantasy, the college girl flipped and flapped around the pool-side in her effort to both stand up and wake herself up. She "kicked" around in her "costume", as she believed and pinched herself multiple times. Not for long she decided to embrace her dream and use her "costume" in the pool. With fantastic results, the college girl found that in her "costume" her swimming potential was potentially increased, but it seemed that the pool was too small.

From behind a portrait the same clerk from the counter peered through unmistakable eyeholes. Watching the college girl in her fantastic display swim from deep end, to shallow end of the pool. A smile creeped upon the old clerk's face as she closed up the eyeholes and locked the entrances to the Inn pool-side.

Morning came all too soon for the college girl in her mermaid "costume". Asleep she was with only the tips of her scaly display touching the watery edge; the rest of her figure dry from the few hours of sleep by the pool-side. Sunshine, like it always does, flooded the window waking up the college girl in her mermaid "costume".

As she was approaching consciousness, the clerk came through the main entrance of the pool-side with a glint in her eye, and a smile arched upon her face. The college girl dragged her "costume" backwards across the rough surface of the pool-side in a state of fear and shock.

The clerk soon to assure her that she was her fairy god-mother and that her scaly "costume" was indeed a one with her body; inseparable and not a "costume".

Upon the present moment above, a fearful acceptance creeped into her soul... she is forever a mermaid.

Wow, long story but very appreciated! That's an interesting interpretation, and was pretty well written : )

My initial thought when making this pic was that a little girl mistook this mermaid's tail as a costume, and her reaction was a confused "Costume...?", but it works as a transformation tale too!

I'm guessing that the look of resignation on her face means that she finally realised the "costume" in question was the bikini top, not the mermaid's tail she ended up with, which, in contrast, was very real indeed.

You mean to tell me that you have the imaginative scope to come up with an image like this and yet no ability to speculate as to just how it happened?

That I find hard to believe.
